Tranquillity, good luck, balance, growth, nature, relaxation and health.

These are some the words that are associated with the colour psychology for the colour GREEN. And what can you add to your home to bring in some more green? Beautiful house plants of course.

With more of us working from home and home schooling our children, there has never been a more important time to bring some green into your home to offset to additional pressures put on the air quality inside your home – which we already know is far more toxic than the outside air already! As we move into stricter isolation, bringing plants inside will help to reduce these toxins, deduce stress and improve your overall well-being.

Indoor plants are proven to purify the air. Even NASA said so! There are many toxins in homes that cannot be avoided no matter how clean we are. In our homes, furniture upholstery, pets, cleaning products, paint and rugs can all carry bad toxins. Plants help purify the air by absorbing gases into the pores of their leaves. Carbon dioxide is of course one of those gases but what you might not know is that they also absorb many over volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as Benzene and formaldehyde. VOCs are linked to many conditions such as asthma, cancer and respiratory illnesses. Not only that, plants call also absorb radiation which is given off by computers, WIFI routers, microwaves etc! Desk plant anyone?!

If that’s not enough for you, studies show that bringing the outdoors in with house plants make people feel more productive and more relaxed. Hard to imagine how something so small can pack such a punch in so many BIG ways!!

Two of the most proven productive plants in improving air quality in homes is the Snake Plant and the Peace Lily. Great news for us all is that these planties are both extremely easy care.

If you are new to the plant parent game or a seasoned indoor gardener. The joy of plant success and especially the arrival of a new leaf can bring, is one of life’s little pleasures. We can all experience this and most importantly while making our homes healthy. And the best part? Plants go with ANY style of home – from Hamptons to BOHO to Luxe and everything in between.
